Wishful Thinking

Some time ago, writing about the AMD-ATI merger, I ended on a wishful note saying, “Now I just wish Lenovo would end their relationship with ATI for their Thinkpad line.” Seems my wish may just come true in a roundabout way.

Jon ‘Hannibal’ Stokes speculates over on arstechnica that post-merger, ATI will stop making chipsets for Intel systems. I’ll go further and say that they’ll stop making Radeon style graphics chipsets too for Intel boards and develop just PCIe style solutions, thus forcing Lenovo to go to Nvidia for their high-end Thinkpads.

Of course, this could still be wishful thinking on my part since I know pretty much nothing about how all this works :-)
