The only thing that sucks really, really bad on a Linux desktop today is audio. There’s no sane way to configure sound - whether you want to mux audio streams, use multiple sound cards or pump 5.1 channel output - you’ve to fiddle with asoundrc which is black magic to say the least. Sadly, unlike the graphics subsystem, I don’t see any activities underway to address this issue. If someone can recommend a reasonably priced sound card which’ll ‘just work’ and get 5.1 channels to my speakers reliably, I’ll be much obliged.

In more upbeat news, Kal Penn is a House regular(?) now!
