Oh look, it's Geocities 2.0!
When you create pages, they are hosted at http://yourgmailusername.googlepages.com/ I think that's one of the more stupid ideas to come out of Google. How, you ask? Consider two gmail users: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org So what are their respective googlepages sites? http://antrix.googlepages.com and http://angler.antrix.googlepages.com
Although the two users are completely unrelated, the latter's site looks like a legitimate part of the former's website. They are like our good old subdomains after all!
Update: One more reason why this is a very bad design decision.
PS: Interesting fact - googlepages.com was registered way back in July 2000!
